CONCACAF Nations League

International Coverage - Fall/Winter 2024

The CONCACAF Nations League represents a defining competition for national teams across the region, serving as both a competitive platform and a pathway toward World Cup qualification. The tournament highlights the diversity, ambition, and evolving quality of football within CONCACAF, while generating strong regional and international media interest.

Across multiple international windows, I covered several Nations League fixtures involving Puerto Rico and Haiti, documenting competitive matches, player development, and a historic qualification journey that culminated in Haiti achieving its World Cup qualification objectives.

My Role

I covered the CONCACAF Nations League as an independent football journalist, providing multilingual reporting in Spanish, English, and French to reflect the linguistic and cultural diversity of the region.

My coverage included consistent access to press conferences, mixed-zone interviews, and post-match reporting, with interviews conducted with national team coaches and players from both Puerto Rico and Haiti. This work allowed me to follow teams across multiple matches and international windows, building continuity in storytelling and trust within CONCACAF media environments.

Key interviews included:

  • Haiti national team head coach Jean-Jacques Migné, interviewed in French across multiple matches, discussing competitive goals, undefeated runs, and World Cup qualification ambitions that were later realized.
  • Fafà Picault, interviewed shortly before his transfer to Inter Miami, capturing insight during a pivotal moment in his career.
  • Frantzdy Pierrot, interviewed prior to his move to AEK Athens, during a period of growing international attention.
  • Leandro Antonetti, then a Sevilla player, interviewed following standout performances for Puerto Rico.
  • Wilfredo Rivera, whose on-field performances and skills were documented through viral matchday content.
  • Carlens Arcus, Ligue 1 right back for Angers, interviewed as part of Haiti’s international squad.
  • Puerto Rico head coach Trout and player Gerald Díaz, following key Nations League fixtures.

Through multilingual interviews and visual coverage, I documented both match outcomes and the broader competitive narratives shaping the region.

Multilingual reporting expanded reach across Spanish-, English-, and French-speaking audiences, reinforcing cross-regional engagement.

Viral visual content—particularly involving Wilfredo Rivera—played a role in elevating player visibility at a regional level, contributing to broader recognition during a key phase of his international career.

Continued coverage has solidified my position as a regional reporter familiar with the confederation’s teams, media operations, and competitive narratives, with an ongoing expectation of presence at CONCACAF international matches.
